How We Are Using AI in Healthcare at CirrusMD

The way that we think about applying these new tools that we have, these AI large language model tools and healthcare, is to optimize for the human to human connection that happens between a patient and a physician. We don't believe, in the application of AI to disintermediate the physician by answering questions from a patient. And the reason that we don't do that is that we believe first and foremost that human to human connection breeds better information transfer.
Secondarily, that having a bot triage, lower level care, think of chest colds and migraines and things like that, misses the opportunity for a skilled physician to dig into and get at some of the underlying risks that may be going on with that patient. Like chronic conditions associated with type 2 diabetes or weight management or hypertension. So when we think of the hundreds of thousands of patients who come through our virtual front door every year, many of them are coming through for minor symptoms that they just need to get taken care of urgently, but we know from a population health standpoint that over half of them are living with one or more chronic conditions that should be addressed clinically and we think AI can help us get to that uncover and address those underlying conditions better.
